Buiksloterham, Amsterdam-Noord
The character of the Noord area is not like any other part of the city and yet, at the same time, it is just as quintessentially Amsterdam. Buiksloterham is a vibrant, enterprising neighbourhood within Amsterdam-Noord where lots of innovative projects are being realised, related to housing, work spaces, sustainable energy, architecture, culture, and recreation. Creative and entrepreneurial minds from all corners of the city and the world are attracted by this exciting combination of unconventional living, industrial activities, no-nonsense restaurants, and cool hangouts. Noord is more popular than ever. The redevelopment of the former Shell site, the NDSM wharf, and the EYE film museum have been the driving forces behind the fast urban development. This means that the area is now becoming a popular place for a wider audience as well. Hotspots like Tolhuistuin, Pllek, Ceuvel, and the A'DAM Tower have put Noord firmly on the map.
Within the Ring, everything in cycling distance
